Dear Parent/Carer, (You can download the letter here)
The recent changes to education made by the Government have increased the challenge of exams. At Seaham High School we have responded to this by offering all students in Year 11 the opportunity to attending Revision (R6) or Intervention (I6) sessions afterschool 3:05 – 4:05pm. These sessions are compulsory for students and will prove vital for your child becoming a success in their exams. Students will be informed by their class teacher if they are needed for Intervention afterschool (I6) and these sessions are targeted to plug any gaps in knowledge and understanding. In the run up to exams, teachers will ask for all students to attend Revision afterschool (R6) and this will be focused on exam preparation.
We have found that students who attend these sessions achieve better grades and are less stressed during the exam period because they feel prepared to tackle the challenges placed before them.
I am sure you can understand the value of the support we are offering and will discuss this letter with your child. I urge you to encourage your child to attend when directed so we can all work together to ensure they are a success.
Yours sincerely,
James Henderson
