17th March 2020
I am writing to update you on the school’s position regarding the Covid-19 outbreak.
We remain open at the moment in line with Government guidance. We have a number of staff and students who are self-isolating now. At time of writing we still have had no confirmed cases.
We have plans in place to deal with any further staffing shortages tomorrow. Students have been excellent over the last two days and responded to challenging circumstances admirably. They are understandably growing increasingly anxious, please talk to them to reassure them and encourage them to ask questions of staff if they feel they need to.
We have cancelled all educational visits and staff attending meetings and courses. We are also restricting visitors to the site and as of tomorrow have cancelled all external lettings. Year 11 Parent evening and Year 8 Preferences evening have both been cancelled. We are also looking into cancelling all events to do with Enrichment week in July and will provide further information as and when we are able.
Plans are in place for an enforced closure should the Government confirm it and students have been informed of this.
Please follow Public Health guidance about when to self-isolate, keep us informed of your decisions and take care.
Mr G.W. Lumsdon
