School Closure

18th March 2020 By davidlanglands

18th March 2020

Dear Parent

I regret to inform you that following today’s Government announcement, I have to close the school to most students as of Friday afternoon until further notice.  At the time of writing I am not in a position to provide a date for re-opening and would ask you to regularly view our website, your own emails and text messages for news as to when the school is able to re-open.

We have put plans in place to provide the best possible form of education for your children in these challenging circumstances, which will be on-line in nature.  You will shortly receive emails from staff informing you that any child in Years 7-10 will be set work via class charts.  This work will be project based and research focused in its nature.  Year 11 will have much more bespoke work set via Google Drive.  I will supply more details about Y11 exams as and when I get them.

Please follow the guidance emails from staff as to how to access this work.  If your child does not have access to a computer or the internet please make us aware and if possible and we will endeavour to put in place an alternative.  We have already been working with students to identify those individuals where this could be an issue.

This is obviously unprecedented in its nature and I am sure, as with all new systems we may have some teething issues, which will need to be resolved.

Please be aware that should staff be affected by illness then it may not be possible to set work in those circumstances.  Can I ask that you inform your child’s Achievement Leader via email if your child becomes ill or any change in circumstances that we need to be aware of?

If you believe you are one of the key workers identified by the Government then please inform the school via a survey, which will be sent electronically by text/email in the next 24 hours.

Yours sincerely

Mr G.W. Lumsdon

Head Teacher
