At Seaham we endeavour to offer a balanced curriculum, which enables all our students to engage, be challenged and broaden their horizons. Our aim is that all students who leave our school can access post 16 education and to do this all need to achieve 5A*-C GCSE qualifications or their equivalents.
Our personalised Pathways endeavour to permit this. We offer a wide range of subjects allowing students the opportunity to begin to specialise in areas that interest them. This opportunity is of course restricted by those subjects that the Government dictates as “core”. In response to the Government White paper of 2010 we have amended our curriculum and introduced a Baccalaureate Pathway for 64% of our students aimed at achieving the English Baccalaureate or new EBC’s, which begin in 2015.
Preferences Evening is held annually in March, although we do offer personal interviews to those students who request them and those students who are in the Green and Blue Pathways. For specific advice on each course please contact the relevant Faculty Leader and for general Information and Guidance please contact Mr Reid, who is our IAG co-ordinator.
Our partner post 16 provider is Headways (Sunderland College)- Mr Reid can provide more details about courses on offer at Headways and entry requirements.
